Sunday, September 9, 1973 Weather: warm +70F at noonup once to bathroom, to bed, slept. up about 8:30, dressed washed, breakfast, read, talked, out, picked up the apples from the tree. also picked strawberries, did a few things about the house, talked about floor for bedroom, den, kitchen, then had lunch, dozed awhile, then cleaned, washed, changed, put food in car, chairs, etc, things ready, left at 1:20pm to Chris and Susan's, got them, back to McPhillips, Leila to Gerry's place then we left, Gerry following to Lois' place near Birds Hill. Those present were - Rhoda and I, Bett and Dave and kids, Jack, Joan and kids, Chris, Susan, Gerry Jane, Carol and Bob & kids, Joyce and Andy and kids, Shirley C and a friend, played games, talked, kids races, ate. Jane as usual upset things, won't get friendly, she left to walk home, so Gerry had to leave. We left about 8:30pm to Chris and Susan's, tea, talked, left there 10pm. Jack told us he is flying north tomorrow for Hydro, will be gone a week, talked, read & so to bed.
Sunday September 15, 1974 Weather: some cloud, temp at noon +60FBarker Family Picnic at Birds Hill Park
up at 5am to BR to bed, slept, up at 8:30am, dressed & washed, breakfast, read awhile, talked, fixed a parcel to mail to Norman in BC, then out -- talked to Rob Nelson, neighbour and showed him the trailer then vacuumed rug, checked heater in tent trailer, switch won't work, keeps cutting out, so put it away, then did some writing. Rhoda getting ready for picnic, lunch, talked, dozed, then finally left at 1:45 to service station via Sturgeon Rd. , Inkster, #7, Perimeter to #59 to Birds Hill, found nice spot, Jack and Joan came, sat and talked and played around, finally at 3:30 others came. Those present - Chris, Susan Rhoda and I, Jack and Joan and boys, Bob and Carol DeVisser & kids, Dave and Bett and only 2 girls, Art and Eleanor and 2 boys, too bad the others won't come, there til about 5:30, had weiners, etc. Everyone going so left. North on 59 hwy, west on 44, north on 9 to Selkirk to Gerry's place but they are not home, so left via 9 south to Perimeter then to #7, Inkster then to Sturgeon Rd. Home at 8pm. put away stuff, read, watched TV, etc til 11pm, had tea and bread, talked and so to bed.
Sunday June 15, 1969 Weather: sunny and warm Temp at noon +62F
Father's Day
up at 7:30am to bathroom, dozed, fooled around, dozed, talked, up 8am, dressed, washed, breakfast, read, did a few things outside, cut cooch grass along fence then told Albert off next door about damaging fence, told him next time there would be trouble, walked around outside for awhile, in, helped Rhoda a bit, phoned Jessie, had a lite lunch, Jack phoned, loaded car, left via Portage and Disraili, picked up Jeessie on Jamieson, then north on Henderson to Perimeter, #59 north to Birds Hill Park, rode around and finally found a spot. took stuff in, walked to rode ; directed the rest of them into picnic spot. run races, played volly ball and base ball. Those present were, Rhoda and I, Jack and Joan, Randy, Bett, and Dave and girls, (8) Andy and Joyce and boys, Linda, Phil and George, Donna and Doug and boys, Jessie, Lois and Russ and kids, Rose, Harold and Lil & Norman. In all 45, not bad. There til around 6pm, left to earth pile, don't look so good so never got any, home, via 59, perimeter, sturgeon, by 7:30pm, in talked and read. listened to radio rest of evening, bed about 11pm, slept. PS. also Carol and Bob and boy and Gail and friend.
