up 7:05 am, breakfast, washed, talked to Lily, to streetcar to Erzinger’s at 8:07am, swept & mopped office, orders til 12:30pm, lunch, city and country orders til 5:30pm, swept up, out to Donald st. streetcar, talked to Lenore Seames, home, Lily out, supper, worked in garden til 7:45pm, up in daisys, everybody out, shaved & washed, diary, read, worked in garden til 8:30pm, sent Norma to store for magazine, Rhoda here, we made up, lots of love, made cocoa and bread and jam, out to Rhoda’s, talked, home, saw & talked to Mr & Mrs Law & Lily at gate til 12:10am, waited til 12:30am for dog to come in, bed. Spent 21¢

June 2, 1937 Wednesday Weather: cloudy, rain, temp at noon +66F

up 7am, breakfast, washed, out to streetcar, talked to Mr. Lennox, to Erzinger’s, swept up & mopped, orders til 10am, helped Albert put up awning til 11:30, city orders til 1pm, lunch, orders & fooled around till 5pm, country orders til 5:45pm out to streetcar, home, supper, read paper, diary, 6:40pm, put on shoes & socks and out to work in garden, planted snaps, dahlia, marigold, balsam, til 9:30pm. Watered it. Over to Rhoda’s, with some geranium slips, talked to her brother then her mother, left, saw a man looking, got worried, waited for Rhoda, boy was I relieved, to her place, talked, left at 12:15, home, 12:30am. (3 years since Mum died, ever remembered by your son John, Mum would have been 66 years)

June 3, 1937 Thursday Weather: clear, temp at noon +77F

up 7:05am, breakfast, washed, out to streetcar to Erzingers, worked til 1:10 on city orders, lunch, country til 4, swept up and out to Donald st. streetcar, home, supper, read paper, planted geraniums, watered them, Insurance Man here for 15 mins, shaved & washed, dressed, diary, read, out to Rhoda’s took more geranium slips, talked & went for a walk to Oakview, dropped in on Hazel & Harold, there til 10:20pm, Hazel & Harold walked with us back to Rhoda’s place, talked, outside kisses, Kid brother started hollering so I left, home 11pm, bed. Spent 51¢

up 11:10am, dinner, out in garden, did dishes, washed kitchen floor, had a bath, discovered a rash on left foot, some kind of skin disease, I guess. Finished at 1:25pm, dressed, read, brought in wood, supper, radio, read, did dishes, Rhoda here, played cards, to store & back, had ice cream, Lily gone to bed, I on chesterfield, talked, left to Rhoda’s, back home 11:20pm, bed 11:30pm but had to get up to let Art in. Spent 45¢

Hartz, talked, home, supper, read paper, upstair, shaved & washed, read, out to Lennox’s , gave Mrs Lennox’s brother a bleeding heart plant, talked to Jones, to store, back to her place out for a walk, she made me mad, she said I am to blame for it because I can’t control myself & she kept on about this guy were she been working since Saturday to her place, told her everything was okay, there til 11:50pm, home, bed, spent 56 ¢

Baird, delivering, home, planted some stuff in the garden & while I’m on the subject, the Bleeding Hearts bloomed May 17, Columbine on June 17, Balsom June 17 and the Iris on June 17, rained, went in, finished dishes, slept, supper, diary, read, shaved, washed, dressed, out to store, to Rhoda’s, met her at Martin Ave, to dry goods store on Kelvin with her then to her place, walked out Kildonan to Oakview and back to Melrose and down to river bank, sat there til 10:55pm, to Rhodas, read paper, had tea& cake, left 12:20am, home, bed

up 8:45am breakfast, washed, out in garden til 12:30, bath, shaved, dressed, out to Rhoda’s at 2:10pm, talked, walked to Harbison Ave and took streetcar to City Park, walked around til 5pm, sat on grass til 6:30pm, streetcar to Donald st. Met Mr. Randolph Lennox, Rhoda’s brother, to Rhoda’s, supper, everyone else out, dishes, Rhoda’s brother back with wife, parents home, left 11:15pm, home bed, 11:30pm spent today $1.05, on Rhoda 20¢
Notes- Rhoda starts work tomorrow at Holt Renfrew. Lily told me that Rose & Jessie went to Lawyers & the Will might not go – I it doesn’t it will be divided 6 ways, can’t blame them – but could’ve told us.
