up 8am * talked out, walked uptown to Free Press, park, Free Press, walked home, to Selkirk Ave, met J Turk, gave us a lift in truck home, in, lunch, Harold phoned asked me to come to Paulin’s, up, laid down, slept til 1:30 pm, down out, uptown to Paulin’s on Ross Ave, in, saw Harold, might get a job there, back to schoolyard, in Elmwood and played ball rest of afternoon. Home, in, supper, # , out and helped Albert with steps at backdoor, left 8:30 pm to park, saw Marge MacDonald, to Hespeler & back with Hanson, then home, in, read, bed.

up 12:30 pm, * # read played crib with Dad, supper, upstairs washed, down, in all evening, played crib, a fellow has rented our garage, so had to go out and get mower, hose & other stuff out, in, played crib, whist, Harold & Rose gone. Bed.

up 8am * walked uptown met C. Eagen, B. Robinson, to Circus grounds in northend, then home by 12:30pm in, then carried wood in, lunch, # upstairs & slept til 3pm, down, Rose here, out to schoolyard, played ball til 5:45 pm, home, in supper, upstairs, down, #, out to park, fooled around, lent flashlight to 2 women, Sonny French got it from them, I tried to get it, he threw it Scotty who dropped and broke it. I was sore & got 25 ¢ from S. French to Snowdon’s who fixed it for 10 ¢, to Mini Golf, 10:30 pm met Edith M. Talked, went for a car ride with Bud Dilly, back then home, in read, & so to bed.

He showed me around then I put on white pants and shirt, I first wheeled trays of candy around then I emptied trays of candy into a machine called a Bush which separated the starch from the candy, cleaned them, did that all the afternoon, out at 5pm, Met Harold on motorcycle, what a ride, home, in, supper, laid down awhile, up out for a walk, to park, fooled around, played Mini Golf, home, in, bed.

Day 3 Paulin’s: up 6:30 am, * out on cycle as Harold here, to Paulin’s, in, punched clock, started to roll glucose barrels, but was sent to the bake shop, what a hell hole when you are not used to it, there all morning, putting trays of cookies in oven and taking them out, and I’m worn out. Home & very tired, in, changed, lunch, laid down all afternoon, up, phoned Doug for Jessie, supper, upstairs, shaved & washed, changed and out to park, met A. Dixon, fooled around with Caseys & Firth girls, home 10:30 pm in read, bed.
