January 2, 1931 Friday Weather: cold
Up at 9:45 am * Mom mad at us. Did writing, in all afternoon, supper, out and walked out E. Kildonan to Helmsdale, back, met R. Dixon, talked home in played records unti 10 pm Russ left, read, Mum & Dad home, talked, bed.

January 3, 1931 Saturday Weather:----

* in all afternoon, super, out to Roxy Theatre, good show, home, in, played cards with the rest, then bed.

January 5, 1931 Monday Weather; cold

Up 7:45 am * Left at 8:30 am up town, to Hbay, Free Press, Eatons, Art gone home; to R. Langs bookstore where I used to work, talked with Bill C, left, streetcar home, 11:30 am, lunch, in all afternoon, supper, stayed in all evening, Dad came home late, Drunk, to bed.

January 6, 1931 Tuesday Weather: mild

Up 8:30 am * in all morning, lunch, in all afternoon, supper, in all night, played Ludo, then bed.

January 7, 1931 Wednesday Weather: mild

Up 8:30 am * in all AM, lunch, out to store for Mum, home, in rest of afternoon, supper, walked out E. Kildonan, to Helmsdale & back. Met R. Coates, S. Morton, D Hanson, to Johnson, talked Roddy dog came so I went home in read rest of evening, then bed

Up 8:45 am * washed the dishes, Dad gone out to drink again, he must bum the drinks or borrow. Read, talked lunch, did some writing in my records books, in all afternoon, supper, out to Roses, in played crib with Harold, won, home, 11:15 pm, read awhile, bed 12 am

January 9, 1931 Friday Weather: mild

Up 9:45 am * washed and swept up, Mum & Art gone uptown, read, Art back, played Ludo with Art, talked, he said he saw Lil on streetcar. Mum home lunch, read finished book, upstairs awhile, supper, out to Vinters, met Nelson, R. Coates, R. Dixon, talked, Russ and Ray gone, Bill and I walked out to Kildonan skating rink, to Rotary Rink, then to Vinter’s, talked, home, in bed.

January 10, 1931 Saturday Weather: mild

Up * fooled around til noon, lunch, washed dishes, Dad gone to Deer Lodge Hosp. Supper, phone Vinters 3 times for Bill, played Ludo with Rose & Harold & Mum all evening. R&H gone, bed

January 11, 1931 Sunday Weather: colder--

Up 8:55 am * dryed dishes, read, shovelled snow from walks, in phoned Vinters, Bill not there, lunch read, Bill here, out to Elmwood Park, went snowshoeing on river for 2 miles past Bergen Train Bridge, back at 6:15 pm in supper, in all night, played cards with Rose, Mum & Harold, they are gone, bed.

January 12, 1931 Monday Weather: fair cold--Max +11F Min -15 F

Up 10:30 am * dried dishes, out cleaned snow from walks, in lunch, Rose here, laid down slept, supper out to Vinters then walked over to the Northend with Bill H. & R. Coates, home, radio, hockey game, up til 11pm played Ludo, bed.

January 13, 1931 Tuesday Weather: cold--temp at noon -10 F

Up 8:45 am * washed dishes, read and played records on gramaphone, a unusual wonderful thing happened, Art brought me a cup of tea while I’m in bed, lunch, in all afternoon and evening, bed

January 14, 1931 Wednesday Weather: cold

Up * fooled around did different things all morning, read, lunch, out to Vinters to northend with the boys, played pool, then home by 11pm

January 15, 1931 Thursday

Up 8:30 am * called on B. Hartz, met R. Dixon & we went up town, looking for work, hom 12:15pm lunch slept read all afternoon, supper, washed dishes, out *pm, met Mabel Robinson, talked, LR passed, walked back met Kelly Robinson, to E. Kildonan rink, on Winterton, with her, got home at 11pm bed.

January 16, 1931 Friday

Up *:30 am * read, lunch, Rose & Shirley here, Rose gone out with B. Simpson & Art, played hockey, home in supper, Rose back for Shirley and gone, Out to Vinters, talked home. Wood had come, so then put wood in basement via window, in read all evening.

January 17, 1931 Saturday

Up 9 am * washed dishes then down basement and piled the wood up, out, cleaned snow from walks, in laid down, dozed, shaved and washed & changed, supper, out to Vinters talked then home in rest of evening.

January 19, 1931 Monday Weather; cold

Up 10:30 am * washed dishes, swept up, washed kitchen and hall floors, lunch, down basement, chopped wood til 4pm, read paper, supper, washed dishes, George Barker & Aunt Kate (? Spelling not clear) called on phone, in all night, played cards, talked, to bed 12:45 am

January 20, 1931 Tuesday Weather; cold

Up 9:30 am * out to Rosies, piled wood for them, read a magazine, lunch talked, left and home, washed dishes, in all afternoon, supper, out to Rosies, Art was there, played cards all night, home 11pm talked then bed.

Up 9:30 am * washed dishes, down chopped more wood, lunch, in all afternoon, out to Rosies, played cards, home, bed

Up 7:15am * got ready, out 8:10 am to corner streetcar, to Erzingers at 8:45 am in talked to Fritz Erzinger, he tells me a customer, Piccadilly Del was causing trouble and was going to court about it, but later they dropped the case, talked with Mr. Truscott, who gave me $1 for my trouble , walked with W. Kline to Ellice Ave to Eatons book department, med B & Kelly Robinson & Winnie Mutch talked and promised to go on a tramping party & bring B. Hartz, will go. Home 10:45 am in read lunch, left 1:30 pm to B. Hartz home, he’s gone to skating shack, to Rosies, left, Bill home, in, gave Mum 40 ¢ washed changed read, supper, washed dishes, B. Hartz came, out 7:15pm took some records & cigts to Kelly R. at 7:30 pm in talked out tramped to Morse Place & back to Kellys in ate played records, we had a good time, home at 1:15pm in bed 1:30 pm

Up 9 ;m * downtown, met Kelly & Winnie, talked, home, 1pm in, lunch, out to Bill’s, uptown, walked around, home, in supper, out to Vinters, on Kelvin, to Poplar St. home, in read, played crib and 500 Rummy.

January 25,1931 Sunday Weather; milder

Up 11:30 am * Bill called, out, went snowshoeing, met Kelly & Winnie, went as far as train bridge, home by 6:15pm Supper, Bill came, I phoned Vinters, A Dixon came, out to his place, Winnie phoned, out to Kelly’s place on Melbourne, other girls never came, so out, snowshoed north to West Kildonan Park, broke a vine and got a lecture from Park Police, out by south gate & crossed river to Kelly’s at 12:15 am, home 1am, in, to bed.

January 26, 1931 Monday Weather; snow

Up 9:45 am * washed dishes, read, out, went uptown with Bill & A & R Dixon, to HBC to Eatons, met Simpson, he & Aleck went to a show, so we walked home, in supper, in all night, Bill, Nelson, & R. Coates called, Nelson wanted books but I wouldn’t lend him any, they’re gone, read & so to bed at 12 am.

January 27, 1931 Tuesday Weather; cold

* out at 9:30 am to B. Hartz’s, he’s not up, waited then went uptown, met Edith Meakin, talked, to Eatons, 11:30 am, home 12pm, lunch, out to Vinters then to Rosies, home, in all afternoon, supper, out to Vinters, Nelson gone to Flo Steele’s, Bill, Aleck & I to Rotary Rink, then I walked out E. Kildonan by myself. Met S. Morton, talked, home, 9pm, in read played cards with Mum, and Art. Bed 11pm

Up 9:20 am * washed dishes & swept floor, sorted books in Alphabet order, did writing then lunch, in all afternoon supper, in all evening.

Up 8:45 am * left 9:05 am to Bill’s, but he’s gone, left books there, uptown, to Eatons, to Erzinger’s at 10:10 am , talked to Steve, Elevator Operator, borrowed 25¢ from Albert, left 12:40 pm with B. Jack, streetcar, home 1pm, in lunch, read, went upstairs, in all afternoon, supper, washed dishes, out with Rose and Harold to Aunt Vetos on Inkster Blvd, Northend, played crib, played records, borrowed some records, stayed late, home 1am, in and to bed.

January 31,1931 Saturday Weather; colder

Up 10:10 am * washed dishes, swept floor, played records, read, lunch, in all afternoon, supper, out to Vinter’s med R. Dixon & B. Hartz, to poolroom, 1 game, lost, home by myself, then walked out to E. Kildonan & back home at 9:50 pm, in Read, Art in, so we played crib, Mum in, bed…
